Rob Manning has a substantial background in karate and has been training with Steve for some time now at Primal. Rob is able to understand how the way Steve trains people providing a fight-oriented interpretation of traditional teachings. Many of the kata/bunkai interpretations that are seen circulating in the martial arts community aren't performed within the context of a fight. Rob wanted to introduce the Morris method to those who come from a more traditional background, and who are interested in a completely different viewpoint on what they may have spent years studying.
The course is about fighting on the feet, full stop. It will be introducing the standup work we've been doing at Primal since the early summer. The training is open to anyone and safety is always factored in. The method Steve uses, which you will take away with you, is one that can be applied to any standup game, including MMA, Muay Thai and boxing, as well as the kind of altercation that happens on the street.
If there's time, Steve may throw in some knife work. Because when it comes to the street, you always have to assume that your opponent is armed, because by the time you see the knife, it's probably too late. So your way of fighting has to deal with the multidimensional elements of a street fight.
Loughborough University is easy to access from the M1 and there's a main line train station in the town. Any questions, drop me a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
